Description:
The Double Xc (conversion) headset allows the use of a conventional 1-1/8” fork with a 1.5” designed frame. Additionally, we make a Double Xc-short, which allows the use of a 1-1/8” fork with Cannondale HeadShok frames. For riders looking to minimize the front ride height of their rig while using a 1-1/8” fork, we offer the Double Xc Flush, which uses “hidden” cups and bearings that ride inside a OnePointFive head tube.
This project began as predominantly an OEM oriented product, but it turns out that with some slight modifications, we could make a version that will fit Cannondale HeadShok frames and allow the user to retrofit a 1 1/8” fork to their Cannondale HeadShok bike.
Double X headset features:
One.Point.Five Compatibility: Headset compatible with newly adopted One.Point.Five Interface Standard. (See the One.Point.Five website for additional specifications.)
20 mm insertion depth: Increasing the depth of the upper and lower cups will provide more strength to the headtube/cup interface.
Interlok Spacers*: Interlok Spacers (Aluminum) provide a tighter fit with headset/stem interface (18mm's of spacers included).
Bearing cups with Undercut*: Increased cup thickness (undercut area), Stress relief, better cup seating in headtube, easier installation.
Stepped Insertion Diameter: Allows for ease of headset cup installation and ensures proper seating/alignment when installing cups.
Cartridge Bearings: Sealed custom manufactured cartridge bearings (Full Compliment/Max type).
Custom T-Seal: Integrated T-Seal decreases chance of bearing contamination.
What is One.Point.Five?
A standard established by industry members who recognized use of oversize diameters based on a 1.5” steerer tube for forks and the interfacing of other front end frame components would provide for a dramatic increase in performance, strength and durability of bicycles built for long travel forks and extreme use. The interface standard is open and freely available for all industry members to follow.
What’s the advantage?
Increasing the steerer tube diameter dramaticly increases both stiffness and strength with minimal weight gains. Depending on each fork makers final design, with similar weight steerer tubes it is possible to increased strength by 44% and stiffness by 134%.
