Description: We pride ourselves in the quality of our Custom-Built wheels. Every wheel that is built in CRC is given the same care and attention whether it is Deore or Chris King. Your wheels will be built just as well as the ones we have on our own bikes and we make sure they get a seriously hard time.

Our Rear Disc wheels are laced and built in 3-cross with alternate spoke direction on the Drive and Non-drive to withstand the opposite forces of Pedal Drive and Disc braking.

Front Disc Wheels are laced and built in 3-cross with forward directional spokes to withstand the stress of heavy disc breaking.

All Wheels are pre-stressed to simulate the bed-in during the first ride and then re-tensioned and trued. This highly reduces the possibility of ‘first ride loosening’ common on non-stressed wheels.

Build time on hand-built wheels is usually between 2 and 5 days depending on how busy we are. Hand-built wheels are not available for guaranteed next day delivery.

Please take care in choosing the correct Rims, Spokes and Nipples for you riding.

Choosing Rims
Rims vary in width, weight and strength. There are loads to choose from so make sure you check the rim descriptions below.

Choosing Spokes
Spokes differ in weight and thickness. Choose spokes to suit the strength/weight you require. PG 2mm– Plain Gauge spoke 2mm thickness. Strong and reliable spoke DB 2mm-1.8mm – Double Butted spoke 2mm at each end and 1.8mm at the middle. Lighter than the Plain Gauge but with similar strength. DB Revolution 2mm – 1.5mm – Double butted super light spoke. 1.5mm in the middle and should only be used on light weight XC racing wheels

Choosing Nipples
If you don’t choose a nipple upgrade your wheels will be built with DT brass nipples. High quality and strong. DT Brass Pro-lock – Super strong brass nipple with locking compound to reduce spoke loosening. DT Alloy – Lightweight alloy nipple. Saves some rotating weight on the wheel but will reduce the spoke tension and strength. Should only be used on lightweight XC racing wheels.
