The girls fly at Revolution 13

The new Revolution season got underway at the Manchester Velodrome on October 14th with an exciting new format for the hugely popular 'Future Stars' Series.

Throughout the series there will be plenty of exhilarating action to enhance the star studded elite racing this season. DHL Exel Supply Chain has committed to a 3 year plan of youth development with Revolution, supporting the first ever regional future stars competition.

DHL Exel Supply Chain will also develop a Sprint School to nurture even younger talent with the ultimate aim to provide new ambitious riders into the 'Future Stars' Structure.

West Midlands rider Jess Varnish and Welsh talent Alex Greenfield were on superb form throughout the tightly contested action on Saturday night.

Thanks to our resident snapper, Adam Tranter, here's a few pictures from the girl's racing.

Now in its fourth year the 'Future Stars' competition has often provided more action and drama than the elite events and has provided invaluable experience for some of Britain's most promising new talent. At 15 and 16 years of age the future stars riders are at the perfect stage to benefit from the racing environment at Revolution. Riders such as Ian Stannard, Ben Swift and Andy Tennant have all moved into British Cycling's Olympic Academy following success in the 'Future Stars' with numerous other riders now part of the Olympic Development programme.

This season the Future Stars is set to be bigger and better with a fresh generation of riders competing for individual glory as well as racing as part of a regional team in the first 'DHL Exel Supply Chain Future Stars' National League. Twelve regions will be represented in the league with teams consisting of three girls and three boys. The riders will compete in three races during the evening accumulating individual points in addition to collectively building points for their team. At the end of the season the male and female rider with the most points will be awarded the DHL Exel Supply Chain Future Stars winning title with the leading team taking the national title.
