More Cycle 2005 news

Team Fat Birds UK will be making a guest appearance the www.shecycles.com stand at the Cycle 2005 show, so come along and meet some of the riders and the SheCycles crew.

There'll be other female athletes at the show including Jenn O'Connor, twice 24hr Solo World Champion. Her 2nd win was at the Kona Global Series at Snow Mountain Ranch, Denver, USA, on Sunday, September 11, completing 18 laps of the 11-mile circuit non-stop over 24 hours. Jenn also races XC for Specialized and will be on their exhibitor stand as well as taking part in the Celebrity Duathlon Challenge.

Maria Costello will also be hanging out on the Specialized stand, she may be better known as Britain's fastest female motorcycle racer and Guinness World Record holder for the fastest female lap of the Isle of Man TT but she's pretty nifty on a bike too. She achieved one of her principle aims in finishing third in the Ultra Lightweight category of the Manx Grand Prix on Sunday, September 4 on the Isle of Man - becoming the first woman in the history of the event to stand on the podium - a fantastic achievement.

Maria cycles many miles each week as part of her training, proving that cycling is an excellent form of cross-training, she'll be showing us how she gets on without an engine in the Celebrity Duathlon Challenge.

Don't forget to enter the Criterium race on Sunday 16th October, the last day of the Cycles 2005 show, it only costs £15 and that includes entry to the show too. The women's race starts at 1pm, you'll need to fill out an entry form either from www,bcf.uk.com or the Surrey League and send your £15 payable to SCRL with your form to 115 Foxley Lane, Purleigh, Surrey, CR8 3HQ before Tuesday 11th October. Or there may be spaces available on the day if you're willing to risk it.

Come along and join the SheCycles editorial team on the start line….we're looking forward to seeing you.

Cycle 2005 takes place from October 14-16 at London's ExCeL and tickets cost £12 on the day. Or better still save £2 by pre-booking tickets for the Cycle Show on 0870 126 1786 or through www.cycleshow.co.uk. Kids get into the show for just £1 (16 years and under, when accompanied by an adult).
