Embrace winter with the SheCycles Winter Celebration Ride organized by SheCycles member 'Radders'. It will be a fun weekend of mountain biking, eating and drinking in the New Forest, Hamps.

Radders says ”I can't offer the most technical single track or biggest hills from the New Forest, but I can offer a pretty place to ride and lots of fun in good company.

Plus as there have been a few postings on the Forum about navigation and map reading, Radders will be organizing some map reading and compass training. Partners are welcome.

Accommodation will be in a Scout Lodge with dormitory style rooms sleeping 30, a communal kitchen and showers etc. The cost for staying from Friday evening to Sunday is £20 per person to include food - except lunch. Ruthie and Anu have offered to help Radders with the food and Pootle is running the washing up team!

The plan for the weekend is to arrive on Friday evening for a day ride on Saturday. We have a few plans on how to make the ride more interesting, then back to the Lodge for a meal and social time on Saturday evening. Sunday can be a shorter ride or some recovery from the night before!

About 20 members have signed up so far but there is plenty of room for more, check out the Winter Celebration Ride Forum thread to book your place.

Nearest station Brockenhurst or Sway (Sway is closer but there are fewer trains that stop there.)

When 24th - 26th November 2006

Cost £20 per person including accommodation and food (except lunch)

OK, here's the idea:

Saturday, day ride in the New Forrest - not very hilly, but pretty with lots of pubs (the challenge will be to see how many we can visit!)

I will book our Scout lodge which is set in the middle of one of the enclosures (sleeps about 30 in 8 dorms, big fire, hall and kitchen etc)

I will arrange some kind of meal for sat eve (any offers to help with catering will be greatly appreciated!!) followed by a few beers and maybe even some silly games!

People can arrive on Friday evening if they wish.

Sunday maybe another ride or just nursing hangovers!

The more people we get the more cost effective the weekend will be so partners are invited too - I could get Dave to organise a lads ride ...
