Protective Waipa Women's 7/8 trousers

It would be easy to think that baggy trousers and cycling do not go hand in hand. The last thing you want when you're out riding is to feel that you're constantly wary of getting caught up in your chain ring, ripping the material, or worse…

Getting the length and fit spot on is crucial if you want to stay confident, comfortable and un-restricted on the bike and once again Protective have come up with a design that factors in all these considerations.

From the edinburgh Bicycle's Protective range, the Waipa 7/8 trousers are a unique take on a three quarter length design and although at first you may wonder if you're a bit of an odd height - they are intended to fall just above your ankles.

The trousers feature a zip-off bottom to give you the option off full length or the 7/8 style. The full bottoms feature elasticated ankle fittings to stay put on and off the bike but zip them off and you'll have a shorter, loose style which avoids the chain.

So, not only are these trousers practical both on and off the bike but they feature a removable mess-Lycra inner short which gives you the option of wearing them for casual fashion or miles in the saddle. The inner short boast's Protective's Women's Performance Pad, a synthetic chamois where the thickness graduates from 2mm thick where you want minimal bulk to 8mm thick for maximum sit bone cushioning. The material is moisture wicking and antibacterial. The chamois itself is highly elastic for max comfort and freedom of movement.

What the Waipas manage to achieve perfectly is a real option to wear for fashion or for serious riding. With the inner removed, these trousers look really stylish but don't be fooled by the casual appearance, the outer material is hard wearing Tactel and along with an adjustable waist for comfort, fit and flexibility these really are designed for high performance.

So I have some short sleeve jerseys that I like and was wondering whether arm warmers actually work over the autumn/winter keeping you warm enough to continue wearing these or whether I need to be looking at some long sleeve jerseys.
