The Sombrio Estelle shorts are categorized as women specific freeride shorts but we've ridden them for a whole range of mountain biking and found them to be versatile enough for any use on the bike, or even off the bike too!
The Estelle shorts are new to the Sombrio range for '06, and constructed from durable nylon and 4 way Kevlar polyester they;ll survive anything you throw at them. Inside the shorts they feature an ultra wicking-mesh liner with a funky design pattern and fabulous attention to detail, that also goes across the design and construction of the whole short.
The shorts don't come with a liner short or padded insert, they are designed to be used on their own or if needs be you can pull on a pair of lycras underneath if you like. The fit is very flattering and quite long in the leg, they fit nicely around the hip without any builder's bum showing. The waistband is adjustable at the rear and
dual front hand over stitched hand pockets, dimple mesh pique waistband facing, YKK soft matte zipper fly, Sombrio icon snaps and an adjustable waist tension system.
The fit is moderately long (just below the knee on us), roomy, yet fitted for women's hips. Ventilation zips are located on the from of thighs and mesh stops any bigs getting in your shorts yet allows airflow. Two front pockets offer some storage space but not a lot, maybe an extra one on the butt would be useful, but with shorts this good looking we don't care if we have to carry our stuff in a bum bag!
