Dahle wins with ease

Jill Kinter wins 4X

Moseley wins at home
Fort William hosted the final of the eight round World Cup series. It brought huge crowds to the small town, and there were plenty of British riders for them to cheer on, though most of them the DH variety.
The weekend stayed dry - well despite a few spots on Sunday afternoon - and the course was in good condition. A bit slippery through some of the rock gardens within the woods, but out on top of the mountain the DH course was being side-swept by a strong wind and a cloud cover which threatened to engulf everything.
XC
Gunn-Rita Dahle secured the 2005 World Cup title by riding away from the rest of the field right from the start, finishing 5 minutes clear at the finish. Nearest rival Sabine Spitz, tried but failed to bridge the gap which grew with each lap.
There were plenty of brits and they did okay. Highest finisher Sue Thomas came 23rd, while both Ruth McGavigan and Julie Cartner finished but were lapped by Dahle. Jenny Copnall unfortunately was forced to pull out.
4X
Jill Kinter confirmed the 4X series title, with another win. Recent world champion winner Rachel Atherton crashed out in spectacular style, taking out some of the crowd and a photographer. Jana Horakova finished second with Meliisa Buhl in third.
DH
Going into the final round Tracy Moseley was in with a chance of taking the overall title, if Sabrina Jonnier didn't finish high in the points. Unfortunately Jonnier's third place meant even Moseley's impressive win couldn't secure the title. Despite not taking the overall title, her win and Rachel Atherton's second place sent the crowds wild.
