The brand new 4X track at Portreath Dirt Centre, Cornwall hosts the final round of 2005 4X National series, with mellow rollers, step-ups, doubles and a big berm with a step-up thrown in to mix things up a bit. The flowing obstacles made for an impressive track with plenty of room for sprints along the straights, a new favourite course to finish of the season with a bang.
Female turnout was low for the final round of the 2005 National 4X Series, 7th August, despite glorious sunshine and the opportunity for luxurious Cornish ice cream. Only two of the regular female riders got to battle it out, with series favourite Joey Gough safely in the lead of the overall standings. Kim Boffy had second place in the series nicely tucked up leaving Laurie Yeomans and Laura Thomas to shoot it alone on the day.
Laura Thomas had the advantage with the course being on her home turf but this wasn't going to stop a determined Yeomans from finishing off the season with a win.
