Evans Cycles Trail Rides

evans ride

We went along to the Evans Cycles Trail Ride at Gatwick on Saturday 13th May with a record turnout, good food and clothing to test from Gore, it couldn't fail to be a great day out. With one of the best atmospheres we've experienced in ages, people mingled in the sunshine and chatted at the drink stops and finish. The three routes gave everyone a chance to ride at their own pace and chosen distance, we opted for the short route, about 18 miles of rolling terrain on country roads, wooded singletrack and undulating meadowland.

420 riders came along to the ride organised and run by Team Trail Break. The rides take place once a month at some great locations around Southern England. and are a great way to get out on your bike, sample some quality trails in amazing locations and meet up with like minded riders. Entry costs vary from £8-10 depending on which route you take (plus a £2 charge to enter on the day), you can download a form and book your place at www.evanscycles.com. There are concessions for riders under 16 years making this a great value day out for all the family.

Demo bikes were available for the ride including women specific bikes from Kona, Trek and Gary Fisher. SheCycles Editor was on hand for set-up advice and a beginners ride for anyone who wanted a more social experience. Although with the huge turnout women riders certainly weren't in short supply.

Check out the pics and consider coming along to the the next Evans Trail ride, go to www.evanscycles.com for dates and venues.

I did the ride at Gatwick and so enjoyed not having to navigate (although the trail wasn't the best) that I am thinking of doing the next one at Bramley, Surrey. Apparently it has lots more singletrack than the last one and as I have never been to the area before that sounds like a brilliant idea to me. Hopefully will be fun. Might see you there. CJ
