New stuff on test from Nike

Imara
Nike Imara HRM

Nike are renound for stylish accessories but we were still pleasantly surprised when the new Vision and Timing samples hit our door. That's glasses and watches to us normal people!

First up, is the Nike Imara is a women's specific HRM - how so we hear you ask? Well, Nike have designed it to fit a women better, so you don't have to look for smaller straps on unisex HRM's and the watch part is designed to look nicer and fit better on smaller wrists.

Here's the technical spec:

  • 50m water resistance
  • Accurate heart rate data
  • Battery hatch on watch and chest strap / Easy replacement
  • Chronograph / Time your workout, track calories burned
  • Programmable target heart rate zone with audible out-of-zone alert
  • Stainless-steel bezel / Durable
  • Time, date, alarm, 2 time zones
  • Two-segment interval timer / For run/walk programs and hard/easy training

For those after a watch for everyday use with a few extra built in gadgets then have a peek at the Oregon £59.99 and Triax Speed 50 £49.99 watches, stylish and subtle with plenty of functions too.

Nike Tarj

Eyewear is a year round concern and Nike have an amazing selection of lenses to fit their new range of frames, smaller faces will be pleased to see the Counter and Tarj Classic designs fit snugly and look in proportion too. The Counter £69.99 has removable lenses which fix in to the frame at the nose brigde, staying in position even when the frames flex and avoids any peripheral vision problems too. They come with Nike Max lenses in Grey and a spare pair of lenses in Smoke, although you can choose from polarised through to orange and back again to clear if you like. The Tarj Classic costs £49.99 and has a more traditional frame around the lense, the arms however are more sculptured and yet retain a subtle design, they offer a close fit to the head -perfect for action sports such as cycling.

We've tested them in wintery conditions and have been extremely pleased with the distortion free polycarbonate lenses, we're looking forward to wearing them when the sun comes out again. We'll have a full test up soon.

Both the Vision and Timing lines will be available from May 2006, through Trek UK (01908 282 626) in UK who currently handle the Nike Cycling stuff. For worldwide distributors go to www.nikecycling.com
