A sports bra has always been essential to me over many years of cycling but it was when I took up running for cross training benefits that I realised just how important it is to get optimum support and fit.
Having spent years trying the find 'the perfect sports-bra' I was starting to wonder if there really was such a thing. However, in recent years the market has made huge advances and there really are many more options for all women of every shape and size.
The Sportjock range caters for differing levels of impact as well as providing a wide range of sizes. The Super Sports Bra is designed especially for C, D, DD, E and F cup sizes.
With a sports top appearance it looks great and could be worn alone, it was incredibly comfortable and didn't rub or wear the skin at all after hours of use. For its casual look I doubted it would offer the kind of support those with larger busts would require but it did feel incredibly well fitted and supportive on first impressions.
The bra features an extra full cut which, unlike a lot of designs, doesn't leave you with an exposed cleavage and has enough material to keep you well covered. This design certainly gives you confidence that you everything will stay in place during activity and the under-bust 'Powerband' fits securely to ensure no 'floating' away from the ribcage or riding up occurs.
On the bike this has been a good design, however, for extremely high impact efforts including athletic interval training I did feel I could have done with additional support. Sportjock have just introduced the D3 Bra which may be more suitable for larger cupsizes during very high impact efforts. This features a zip closure on the front and a wide, reinforced rear offering added support for DD-G cups.
The other design in the range, The Action Sports Bra, offers all the benefits of the Super Sports Bra but caters specifically for sizes A-C cup. There are plenty of colours to choose from too, ranging from plain black to bright pink.
Both bras are constructed from a combination of DuPont Supplex and Coolmax. The Supplex contributes to the soft feeling of the bra and also helps it to retain its shape and colour. After many washes it looks as good as new and has really kept its stretch and fit. The Coolmax lining adds effective moisture transportation properties helping you to keep dry throughout activity.
