Comfort and warmth
|
Spring may be long overdue but we needed to tell you about the DHB Tights we've had on test from Wiggle.co.uk over the last few weeks and at this price you need to get them while you can. Even if spring does finally arrive you'll be glad of them in store for cool days or next autumn. Grab a bargain while stocks last.
I really don't like getting cold on the bike and, whilst I accept it as one of the evils of winter training in England, I do look out for products that will keep me as comfortable as possible.
I had not worn bib style winter tights before (that is ones which, rather than finishing at the waist, continue up your body with straps over the shoulders) although the concept of keeping my lower back protected had appealed for some time and I was not disappointed. Thoughtfully, the tights also have a zip, which makes them easy to get in and out of and I am definitely converted!
The fabric is wind resistant 'Thermo-stretch', which is fleece lined and feel great next to your skin, while keeping you super warm. I particularly liked the additional padding at the knees, which give these joints extra protection from the elements and the legs are cut to allow for easy movement too. There is gripper tape at the ankle, which I prefer to stirrups, and there was absolutely no riding up, even after a long day on the bike.
The chamois is excellent too, it boasts a Coolmax lined 'high tech pad' with 2-way stretch and terry towel surround. And given the price tag, I did not expect that it would be this good. I usually wear shorts under my winter tights, but there was no need with these and I am all for reducing the crazy number of layers that I seem to end up wearing at this time of year.

2nd opinion
These tights are the first DHB product we've tested so here's some background to the brand. DHB specialise in clothing and bags for active sports they make clothing, heart rate monitors and bags and you'll be surprised at the prices too.
Mainly because Wiggle source all DHB products in bulk, direct from the manufacturer.
Bib tights can be a peculiar fit on women especially for the bigger busted riders, where straps can sit wrong or be uncomfortable. These however work well and are comfortable across the shoulders, we also liked the high back which kept out drafts and sure beat tights for comfort around the midriff. A bargain pair of bib tights with the quality and styling worthy of a bigger price tag.
