More cycling medals were won this weekend with
Emma Davies Jones taking the bronze medal in the women's 3,000 metres pursuit in the velodrome on Sunday 19th March.
The race was close with Emma Jones beating the New Zealand racer Alison Shanks by a mere eight tenths of a second, a close win after Shanks had led at the half-distance marker.
British pursuit champion, Wendy Houvenaghel, should have met Jones in the race for bronze, but was disqualified in the qualifying round after she passed Katie Mactier [Australia]. Mactier went on to take the Gold medal.
Emma's was hit by a car in Manchester last October when she was riding her bike to the Velodrome for a training session.
She spent two months in a hospital bed recovering from her broken back and many more weeks in rehab to get back on the bike, so this medal couldn't have gone to a better rider.
