 NEWS 20 / 12 / 07

It will be an eagerly anticipated appearance from Hoy who hasn’t featured at Revolution since the first event of last season. On that occasion he dominated the racing and the Scottish star is eager to return to the action,

“I’m really looking forward to it; it’s got a great atmosphere. I’m usually in Australia at this time of year and miss it so it will be good to see the Manchester crowd again.”

Hoy’s current form will make him a formidable opponent having won the Keirin in the first two World Cups in Sydney and Beijing. As the reigning world champion in the discipline Hoy is clearly the man to beat and has his sights firmly set on Beijing,

“I’m really happy with my form; we’ve been concentrating on getting points to qualify for the Olympics so we’re ahead of where we need to be which is perfect.”

"The Keirin is quite an unpredictable event and it is not often that you can get a string of consistent places," he added. "It is encouraging that I can go unbeaten for so long but it is inevitable that it won't go on forever. I am getting more experienced and the longer it goes on, the better it is for me.”

Revolution on January 12th will provide the next opportunity for Hoy to test his unbeaten record as he faces up to a strong challenge from British stars Craig MacLean, Jamie Staff and Ross Edgar as well as several top international names.

These riders will feature in an omnium competition including a Keirin, 200m Time Trial, Sprint and Team Sprint.
