Cyclox, the cycling campaign for Oxford, will on Saturday 17th November host
a conference to examine how cycling can help tackle Climate Change.
The Cycling for the Climate National Conference, organised by CTC and CCN,
will explore a range of issues including how road conditions can be improved
to tempt more people to take up cycling.
Speakers include Mark Lynas, the renowned environmental journalist and acclaimed
author of Six Degrees: Our Future on a Hotter Planet and Adrian Dent, who manages
CTC¹s own climate change project, CycleHero. The day will also offer interactive
discussion workshops, plus a look at designing for cycling in urban situations.
It will close with a panel debate chaired by Dr Alison Hill of Cycling England.
CTC conference organiser, Cherry Allan, said: "This is a unique opportunity
for those concerned with our environment to see how increased cycling can provide
a better future for society. It¹ll also give participants the chance to
delve into practical ways of connecting cycle campaigning to the wider climate
debate."
Details of the programme and on-line booking form are available at: the website
Tickets cost £17. There is also a full social programme from Friday evening
through to a CTC-led ride in Oxfordshire on Sunday.
