Mulebar

Mulebar

While they were hiking up the Andes, Jimmy and Alex hit upon the idea of creating an energy bar made from natural ingredients that tasted better than the bars they were using at the time.

So, following much development in their kitchen to perfect the blend of ingredients, the pair setup Fuel for Adventure, and released four energy bars, all made form natural ingredients. And not only that, but two of the bars are Fairtrade accredited.

Flavours include Chocolate Fig Fiesta, Pinacolada, Mango Tango, and Hunza Nut, with the last two the ones to pick if you only purchase Fairtrade products.

And to ensure these bars are environmentally friendly, the company has signed up to the 1% For The Planet, whereby 1% of sales will be donated to support environmental groups.

£1.29 each or a box of 24 for £30.

Can someone explain the difference between energy fom using proteins and carbohydrates please? I understand that protein is required for tissue repair but if there aren't enough carbs/fat in my body then my energy comes from the protein which are required for muscle repair/growth.
Before an endurance ride I have been told to stock up on protein about 2 weeks beforehand followed by carbohydrate loading a couple of days before and then live off energy bars/drinks for the ride. Why is this so? I assume it means that I store protein for repair and all my energy I generate during the ride comes from carbs. Is this a general preparation?
