Sombrio Lotus shorts with side opening

The Lotus shorts are proper baggy shorts, with nice long legs and a generous waist. We opted for a bigger size than normal to accomodate our body armour and leg pads so we could put them to the test of some serious freeriding and DHing.

The waist was in turn a little baggy, as expected though, so we fitted a belt and off we went! The Lotus shorts have plenty of belt loops so the combo worked well together. We also wore these shorts off the bike too and got plenty of good feedback whilst hanging out on the beach.

Unusually for a pair of biking shorts the zip fly is on the side of the short by the hip. it made getting them on and off easy with leg armour and was a comfortable position for the zip too. Another nice touch is the embroidery design on the leg, a feminine touch that suits the casual styling.

Fabric is Sugoi's benchmark 4-way stretch ultra durable nylon with a seamless crotch to minimise bulky in that region and aid comfort. Despite being a tough and stretchy fabric they are pretty lightweight and cool to wear. The pockets have novel fastenings, magnetic snap openings are easy to get into and snap close once your done. They are easy to access even with gloves on and keep your stuff safe too.

So after some serious DH riding in the Alps, in rain and hot weather, we are pleased to say that the Lotus shorts held up pretty well. Despite a few slips off the bike and some heavier crashes there is no real evidence of wear, and the seams are still going strong too.
