Fox is a brand that's well known for it's tough, stylish and cool bike wear and especially for those who like to ride hard both DH and freeride. They also make great XC and all mountain wear and the Girls Race jersey is no exception.

We've tested the 2006 and 2007 versions and really enjoyed the fit and styling as well as the technical attributes. The XC fit is baggy enough to be mountain bike specific but fitted in a way that emphasises the female form and gives a reasonable contoured fit without showing off any rolls or too many bumps. All in all, a good design and fit for most female body shapes.

The arms are that nice length that shows off some muscle but not too short either and we liked the neckline, not like your standard 1950's style jersey that comes a bit high and looks weird when the zipper is open. It lies nice and flat around your collar bones and is all together more feminine and stylish than most.

In 2006 the jersey had a big Fox motif on the front, this was moved to the arm for 2008, eitherway we like the motif and it certainly has kudos. The rear has three pockets, quite shallow compared with roady-style jerseys and much easier to access whilst riding along. You loose a certain amount of capacity but the accessibility is far superior, our 2007 version had a really handy zip pocket for keys and money, a must have for girls on the go.

A top feature is the 'No smear' sunglass wipe situated on the right front hip. Not noticeable from the outside the soft fabric patch is perfect for cleaning your glasses and being on the inside doesn't suffer from getting mucky either.

The fabric is a lightweight polyester, good for wicking away sweat and fast drying, it's stretchy nature is perfect for on the bike use. Construction is good quality with good zipper and easy pull tab. On the whole stylish and well designed for active girls.

Spot the zip pocket for keys and money
