Sombrio Epik vest - TESTED

Sombrio_vest2
Emily Horridge testing the Sombrio Epik vest

Sombrio continue to kick most other bike clothing manufacturers in the butt when it comes to cool styling for their mtb clothing and the Epic is no exception. They've taken technical materials and a cool casual styling and combined the two to make a sexy and flattering vest that looks great for whatever you want to do in it. Best of all it works well when you're sweaty leaving you more time to worry about getting some air or choosing the perfect line through the rock garden.

We're not fans of ultra girly designs but the butterflies and embroidery (wow I can't believe I used that word in relation to a biking garment) went down well with the girls we showed the Epic to.

Technically speaking, the Epic has mesh fabric panels underneath the armpits with the remaining fabric is Chitosante and is very stretchy in all dimensions. All seams are smooth and well constructed to aid comfort when wearing a hydration pack or back pack, or if you choose to wear it as a base layer (although we wonder why you'd want to cover this lovely vest). The fabric is good for wicking sweat away and is fast drying to keep you cool and dry. Finally there's a small zip pocket for your keys or emergency cash.

good Great styling and really comfortable

badCan't think of any right now

I am testing and researching women's clothing on behalf of a British brand that is expanding its women's range. I personally prefer a classic, three-pocket jersey for both road and mtbing. For road rides I use the pockets as follows: left pocket for keys and mobile phone, middle for rolled-up gilet or legwarmers, right pocket for energy bars and/or gels. This way the load is balanced, and I can grab my snacks easily without accidently dropping my keys out onto the road. I use a seatpack for my tubes, tyre levers etc. For MTBing, I can wear a Camelback if I want to, and put nothing in the pockets, and the simple design with no zips means there is nothing to dig into my back.

However, the company I am working with does not make a ...
