 GetMountainBiking_1
Great trails at Woburn

Get Mountain Biking are running some Women Specific Courses, the next date is 25th August and will be delivered by female instructors. The day is not just about riding your bike better; personal attention is given to helping riders get the most out of their biking and staying safe and comfortable whilst doing so. The courses are run in Northamptonshire, mainly at Harlestone Firs, Northampton (3 miles from J16 M1) and the great trails at Woburn Sands, nr Milton Keynes (2 miles from J13 M1). All courses are delivered by fully qualified, first aid trained and insured instructors. for full information of where the courses are based and times go to the Get Mountain Biking website.

  • Attack position, descending,cornering
  • Basic technical skills - including drops offs and lifting the front wheel
  • Emergency trail repairs
  • An opportunity to try out clipless pedals

Get Mountain Biking's Women's Specific Courses are run on the last Saturday of each month so if you can't make the August day (25th Aug) then check out these dates and book you place soon.

  • 29th September
  • 27th October
  • 24th November

Courses cost £50 and run at a pace to suit the group (Helen says 'and no we've never left anyone behind yet!') so as long as you are riding your bike at least once a week - dont worry, you'll be fine. The courses are delivered by female instructors and limited to a ratio of 1 instructor to a maximum of 6 females. If your other half wants to come along to try out the play area, jumps and downhills (each are 20-30 seconds long) then day passes to ride at Woburn Trails are available.

For more information or any queries please email womenonly@getmountainbiking.co.uk or contact Helen on 01604 891044

Helen Powell founded Get Mountain Biking and says “Women's participation in mountain biking has seen a steady increase over the past couple of years but there are still very few skills courses that are tailored specifically towards women. I established Get Mountain Biking to support women coming into the sport and those looking to further develop their technical skills. The courses offered are delivered by female instructors and develop skills required to ride confidently and fast. I get great satisfaction from delivering skills courses and it's rewarding to see the improvements made by those undertaking a course in just one day, their confidence and technical ability both visibly increase and they leave the day on a high after going down descents they never thought possible!”
