Shimano electric

Shimano electric
Shimano electric

Shimano electric gear shifter system featured at the Tour de France on a Gerolsteiner team bike.

Whilst the Campagnolo electric gear shift system would seem to be quite advanced in its journey toward production, the Shimano version looks chunky and very much at the prototype stage. The seemingly hand machined derailleur parts look purposeful and with no carbon in view, you do get the feeling that an engineer might appear with file in hand to adjust the set up in some way.

The front changer on the other hand does look complete, but the large battery pack zip-tied to the down tube looks ugly. The Campagnolo bottle cage/battery combo further emphasises the Italian companies more 'ready for production' status.

The levers are fixed with a button to change gear and atop the lever is a LCD display showing gear position. We assume that the Shimano system must work to a good degree for Gerolsteiner to take a chance on it in the great race.

I've been cycling with him for a while now, gradually collecting bits of gear as I could afford them. Anyway the time has now come for me to try clipless pedals, but I'm not sure which shoes to go for.

Are dedicated ladies shoes really necessary? I'm not sure how easy it is to get mens in my size (5.5-6) And should the fit be similar to normal shoes, or vastly different? (ie. should I go up/down a size?) And of course they have to look nice as well... Although possibly not too flashy- my boyf's family have been cycling/racing for years and I am definitely ...
