When only goose down will do!
|
Cosy jackets are a winter must have and The North Face have a fair few to choose from, whether it's for high alpine mountaineering, skiing or just staying toastie around town. We checked out the Nuptse Vest with its 700 fill-down feather interior and Z-ripstop nylon fabric. The shoulders have double-layer Taffeta fabric for extra durability whilst the goose down offers the lightest and warmest insulation available. Having such a high lofting potential also means it's extremely compressible so it fits neatly into the stow pouch built into the inside chest pocket.
Other luxury features include the soft fleecy lined collar which zips up high to keep out draughts and chills and equally cosy pocket lining for warm hands. This latest version of the Nuptse Vest is tailored to fit a woman's form with a close fit providing a wonderfully warm after ride garment that also looks great down the pub.
Washing and care is pretty simple, it's fine to chuck it in the machine, although special down soap (costing £5 for a bottle) will give best results coupled with a quick tumble dry to loosen off the feathers for a nice puffy finish.
If you've never tried a down jacket then head along to your nearest ski or outdoor store and get one on your back asap, you'll never look back. It's like being snuggled up in your duvet all day long!
