Fleche Wallone women's race

Fleche Wallone Results - 103.9 km, April 25th

Nicole Cook attacks on the final ascent of the fearsome Huy climb as World Champion Marianna Voss waits to jump away to win at the line.

The fast moving bunch saw a few attacks from Anderson (T-Mobile), Swiss rider Maechler, De Goede, Bubnenkova, Armstrong and Bosman but all were kept in check by the peleton. Despite all these attacked the group of riders were still together at the base of the final climb when Cooke took off followed by Lutz, the gap was bridges by Vos, Bruins and Neben for the final push to the finish.

Cooke lead out the leading bunch but Vos jumped away showing her reigning World Champion power and crossed the line first, this is her first win at the Fleche Wallone whilst Cooke has won three times previously.

    Are you coming on a Five Miles to Fabulous ride near you?

    If 5 miles is a bit short for you why not bring some friends along and have a social ride.
    The aim is to get women back on their bikes and encourage girls to cycle...surely a good thing all round?
