The 2007 Ch'Ti Bike Tour features a number of 'Monts' used in the Spring Classics.
Only 45 minutes from Lille the Ch'Ti Bike Tour is held on August 25/26 and
offers a real opportunity to 'buy into' a vibrant cycling culture. The ride title Ch'Ti refers to Northern France, an area synonymous with cycle sport.
The routes
will be fully signed, with food stops and motor bike out riders.
The days close with a pasta/BBQ party and the chance to practice your awful
French, the locals won't mind, they love cyclists!
On the 25th the day centres on a 160k Sportif that hugs the Belgium border,
covering climbs and sections of the 'Pave du Nord' that echo the local cycling
folklore. There is also a VTT option for off road fans.
The following day there are three rides and again you will cycle a number
of famous 'Monts'.
The event is organised by Didier Soenen (www.dso-sports.com)
and the routes are designed by Alain Cordier, a man who's CV contains the Dunkirk
Four Day cycle race.
We give you sketchy details at this time, although if your French is up to
it you can check out www.lechtibiketour.org,
or otherwise wait for our next report and news of a possible LondonCycleSport,
RoadCycling and SheCycles trip. Fingers crossed.
