Spiuk Women's Elite Winter Tights - TESTED

Spiuk tights

The weather's been relatively mild in the UK until recently when we've had some serious bouts of cold. In fact at the time of writing, the streets are covered in sludge in the aftermath of a scattering of snow this morning. On such days we've had to dig into the depths of our winter wardrobe for some seriously warm kit. The Spiuk Ladies Cycling Tights were a toasty addition to the said wardrobe this winter and we've been more than glad of them whilst training and commuting to work.

Spiuk clothing has been a top choice for European cyclists and triathletes for over a decade but it's only in recent years that the ranges have been widely available in the UK. Spiuk produce custom made clothing as well as kitting out many of the pros and now you can get your hands on the whole range online or in many British bike shops.

The Women's Elite Winter Tights are designed with SuperRoubaix fabric which feels fantastically comfy against your skin and keeps you warm and snug. As well as the overall comfort, provided by the fabric and the use of flat seams, we were impressed with the chamois. Made from Spiuk's 'Women's 3DZ Multilevel pad', which is crafted in CoolMax by DuPont, this certainly aided us over many hours in the saddle.

As well as keeping your legs warm the tights provide excellent wicking properties which means you don't end up damp, hot and sweaty but instead stay warm and dry. The women's specific tailored cut gave a great fit and gripped nicely at the ankles and waist without cutting in.

What really finishes off the complete design package is that the tights feature plenty of reflective piping and trim to aid visibility - and every little helps at this time of year.

Verdict

This is the first time we've taken a good look at the Spiuk range and we have to say we're very impressed. You only have to feel these tights to recognise the quality of the fabric and they really do feel great when you put them on. Overall they're a perfect blend of comfort, fit, style and performance and we'd certainly recommend for this time of year.

Bit of a different angle on the tights though:

Do any of you find that the seams that some designs have under the chamois (Womens Specific) still bother your bits?

I do, so I'm wondering are there decent, inexpensive tights without these seams? Why do the ladies versions of mens tights have these seams whilst the mens versions dont?

You know, there's like a regular trousers seam at 90degree angles under the chamois, and the pressure of sitting on this bit of fabric is not nice...

Help!! Please!
