For a great look both on and off the bike, Cannondale have designed a shoe that can be used with or without SPD's.
These flexible MTB shoes are great for grip when you need to hop off the bike on off-road terrain and also offer a stiff midsole for hard riding.
Available in Steel Blue or Gray, the sturdy footwear is compatible with all 2-bolt pedal systems and also comes with a cleat cavity cover for non- SPD pedalling. So, you have the option of wearing them for walking, hiking, cycling or to the pub if you so choose!
You do have to ensure that you tuck the laces in when you hit any trails as without any lace cover it's not difficult to get them flapping in the way of the chain.
These shoes are probably best suited to the bike, as the cleat cover is slightly raised which makes brisk walking a little uncomfortable, but they do look rather good for casual wear too. The grip on the centre of the sole is not as good as it could be on flat pedals as the cleat cover slips slightly, so SPD use is probably most efficient with this design.
Ideal for wider feet, the shoes come up quite generously in size. The combination of synthetic nubuck and breathable mesh help to keep feet cool and additional reflective features offer quite effective night-time visibility.
