Track training for women in Scotland

Track-master1

The City of Edinburgh Racing Club and the Edinburgh Racers kids club will be holding a track racing development day for women aged 14 + on May 6th 2007. This development day will take women from the very basics of riding on the velodrome through to the skills needed to race in a bunch of riders.

Places on the development day are limited to 20 riders, skills will be taught in ability groups of no more than 5 riders per instructor. All riders will be supplied with a track bike, helmet and given assistance with any other equipment they need to take part in competitive track racing. There will be two morning sessions of 1 hour duration and two afternoon sessions of 1 hour duration covering instruction, practice and racing. The instructors are elite women track cyclists who have won World championships, Commonwealth Games and British championship medals on the velodrome. They include Kate Cullen, Carol Scott, Eileen Roe and Daisy Sherwood.

Successful applicants will be confident bike riders but need not be competitive cyclists. This development day is suitable for Skiers, Rowers, High/Long jumpers, Gymnasts, Triathletes, Mountain bikers and other athletes.
