Hell of the North Cotswolds 2007

2006 action
This ever popular classic event promoted jointly by Winchcombe CC and Cheltenham & County CC will be held on Sunday 15th April 2007 starting from the picturesque Cotswold Town of Winchcombe with a mass start of riders at 09-00 hrs.

Not a race, but a hard core Cyclo Sportif in the spirit of the 'Paris Roubaix Hell of the North' Classic.

Last year the event attracted over 1000 riders and as 2007 is the twenty third year of the event there will be a commemorative medal awarded to all riders who successfully complete the course.

In 2006 the organisers donated over £3000 to various charities including Cancer Research and the Air Ambulance.

Under-18 Award
Supported by Marin. Following the phenomenal success of recent years’ awards, Marin will present a brand new bike to be drawn out of the hat for one lucky under 18 year old (on or before 15/4/07) who completes the course.

This year, the model of bike changes to a Marin Palisades Trail cross-country machine, with a lightweight hydro-edge 6061-T6 aluminium alloy frame, 100mm travel Rock Shox Tora front suspension fork, Truvative crankset, Shimano Deore drivetrain, WTB Motoraptor tyres and Hayes hydraulic disc brakes front & rear.

Route
There will be a 100Km route for the really keen riders and a 50Km route for those who know how tough the off-road Cotswold Hills can be! The routes will be handed out in the form of written instructions, on a printed map and will also be available as a digital Tracklogs GPS route.

The event will use a classic route consisting of tarmac roads and bridleways including everything from technical rocky single track to rutted possibly muddy tracks and will offer a challenge to all levels of rider. Refreshments will be available at approximately half distance and also after the finish of the route.

All riders MUST wear a Helmet whilst participating in the event. Riders will be identified by a self adhesive number that will be affixed to the helmet.

Enter
A limit of 1000 entrants will be accepted and entries will not be accepted after 31st March 2007. Early entries are therefore recommended.

Entry fees are

  • Riders over 18 years of age £10.00 pre-entry ONLY
  • Youth Riders (under 18 years of age on 10/04/2005) £5.00 pre-entry ONLY.
  • Entry forms available on the web site

    Hi,

For those that have missed the previous thread regarding a Shecycles C2C off road ride.

I'm proposing to organise a ride with www.cycleactive.co.uk for the 2-5th August.

I need to get an idea of numbers of people interested on going on this ride so I can establish a group discount and make a booking.

The advertised cost of this tour is 235.00 without discount. For further details please use this link http://www.cycleactive.co.uk/mountain/uk/c2c.html

Would you let me know if you are interested by close of play Monday 11th Dec please?

    Thanks
    Gela
