Gore Vento Lady gilet - TESTED

gore_vento_front
A comfortable fit

The Vento does everything it's supposed to, keeps the wind off, has a wind flap inside the zipper, has a high collar for chilly days and is mesh lined for comfort. Construction is top notch and the elasticated arm holes and side sections of the hem make for a snug fit, enhancing the female cut of the garment. Two zip pockets are handy for keys and tools etc and there are reflective strips on the front and rear too.

As gilets pack down into a fist sized bundle they can be stuffed into jersey pockets easily, or as the Vento comes in a handy pouch it can be stowed under your saddle rails or slung from your bar until it's needed.

The fit is good, close and snug to keep out draughts yet the fabric stretch and moves with you on and off the bike, we even used the Vento for running. The back panel is long enough to cover the full length of you back when riding on the drops and stays put well too. The mesh insert in the back is great for ventilation and breathability so you don't overheat, yet leaves shoulders and the vulnerable kidneys covered against the elements.

Can anyone advise me: I'm looking to buy a new waterproof for cycling (though it doesn't have to be a cycling specific one necessarily as long as any hood packs away well so it is ok for cycling)

I'd like it to be quite a good one so that it lasts me a while (I bought a cheap 25 quid one last year, and it's completely lost it's waterpoofness already, hence me having to buy a new one!), and I'd rather that it was lightweight so that it packs down small & I can get warmth by layering underneath it, and obviously as breathable and waterproof as possible!

Oh and there are not any decent shops near me to try on a good range so I am unfortunatly probably going to have to buy online (though I might try out the local bike shops in case).

Cheers ...
