The London Bikeathon is celebrating it's 11th year on Sunday 15th July 2007
and are looking for volunteer marshals to help cover the City Route of this
great sponsored cycle ride (from 9.30 am - 4pm on Sunday 15th July)
The role of a marshal is to direct Bikeathon entrants - all of whom will be
wearing a London Bikeathon T-shirt and Entry Number on their chest, and to help
ensure the safety of all those involved or affected by the event whilst minimising
any adverse effect of the event on the local community.
This will include monitoring the conduct of the participants and watching out
for entrant(s) who may be riding in a dangerous manner. Marshals are also there
to motivate the cyclists, and offer encouragement with a friendly cheer as they
go past. Volunteer marshals are crucial to the safe running of the event and
really add to the great atmosphere on the day.
The London Bikeathon is in aid of Leukaemia Research. Blood cancers can affect
anyone of any age and we're committed to improving diagnosis, treatments and
ultimately finding a cure for every one of them. By volunteering to help at
the London Bikeathon you will join thousands of people making a real difference
to the lives of adults and children across the UK. It takes over 200 volunteers
to make the London Bikeathon happen every year.
