Win tickets to the World Masters Championships

This year sees a record entry for the 12th World Masters Track Championships to be held at Manchester Velodrome. A spectacular 425 riders have entered this year's event from 22 nations. Beginning on the 11th September and running until the 16th September 2006 riders including SheCycle's Janet Birkmyre will compete across a fantastic programme.

Saturday 16th sees the famous Muratti Cup round off what should be the best ever World Masters and we're offering you the chance to be there.

All you need to do to be in the chance of winning a pair of tickets for Saturday is answer the following simple question and e-mail your answer to rebecca@magicalia.com.

B. Malcolm Elliot

Good luck! We'll be picking the name out the hat at the end of the working day on Friday 8th September.

What are the World Masters?

The Championships are the official Championships for riders over 30 years of age and riders are grouped in 5 year age categories with each age competing over 4 individual disciplines (time trial, sprint, pursuit and points race) with the Men also competing in the Team Sprint.

This will be the last year that the British riders will have home advantage as the event is moving from Manchester to Austrailia for 3 years.

The week is packed with over 50 world Championship events in the 6 days and essentially finals will be 7pm each evening with further final sessions on Monday (11th) afternoon at 1.30pm and Saturday (16th) when an afternoon session will feature heats and some finals from 12.00pm to 6pm. (Heats are held every day from Tuesday with free admission to these heats on Tuesday to Friday) Admission is £8 per day (£4 under 16's and over 60's).

Saturday sees the famous Muratti Cup round off what should be the best ever World Masters. Already signed up for this race is Shaun Wallace, Malcolm Elliott and Bernardo Figueroa.
