Some of you may have already heard that mountain biking in Scotland achieved Global Superstar status according to an International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) report. The 7stanes received particular praise for providing outstanding trails.
In additional to that good news there is continued work going on the trails at Kirroughtree, they are currently building a new section of the blue grade trail to take out the forest road and put in more singletrack. This should make for better riding for sure and will compliment the 5 new sections of trail that have been under construction in the Blue (Larg Hill) and Red (The Twister) routes at Kirroughtree. This work aims to take the bike trails away from some of the walking paths and to cut out some more sections of forest road.
An additional 3km of single-track is also programmed for the Black route (Black Craigs), with work due to start in May 06. This will cut out some of the forest and public road sections and should be completed by the summer. Hurray!!!

Next week look out for the 7 Stanes ride guide by Claire Jennings, who drove all the way to Scotland from the depths of Cornwall to check out the singletrack. She wasn't disappointed ! Here's a pic to whet your appetite.
