Round 4 of the MTB XC race series was held at Margham Park in South Wales over the weekend 16-17th July, as well as the usual XC race format their was the Short Track racing and first ever Marathon Championships.
In the Women's Elite race Jenny Copnall managed a 1' 30” win over Sue Thomas despite crashing hard in the 2nd lap, Copnall can anticipate the series win at the next and final round.
The Sport category was dominated by Kate George with team mate Sarah Carter riding in to 2nd place whilst the Expert category saw Climb on Bike riders Jules Toone and Paula Moseley taking 1st and 2nd places.

Marathon Championships
Sunday's Marathon Championship race was held on a 25km loop at the same venue as the XC racing, just with more hills and fast descents. The Championship race covered 100km but shorter distances or 1, 2 or 4 laps were available to non-championship category riders.Nearly 750 riders rode the event making it one of the most popular events so far this year.
The women's Championship race was dominated by Caroline Jackson and Elizabeth Scalia, with Jackson gradually increasing her lead with each lap, winning by over 6 minutes after 4 laps in a total time of 04:57:36:516.
