Women's MTB week in Canada

Ticket2Ride1
Tracy on the podium!

Ticket2RideBC have teamed up with World No.1 rider Tracy Moseley to offer a women's only riding week from 28 July - 3 August 2007.

Fancy a week of riding the best trails in the world under the guidance and instruction of the best female rider in the world?

This week of riding and coaching is a fantastic opportunity for female riders of all abilities to overcome their limits, become more confident in their abilities and feel more excited about their riding than ever before. It's also an excellent place meet like-minded mountain bikers and not to mention a great chance to ride the legendary trails of the worlds most influential and diverse riding destination, Whistler, BC, Canada. From beginner to expert, one week of riding these highly progressive trails will improve your riding like no-where else on the planet!

Jon from Ticket2RideBC says 'We don't just intend to let you loose on the best riding in the world all-alone, we've assembled a team of experts and experienced guides, who have structured a week of skills clinics and coaching just for you. These experts include none other than 2006 World Cup DH Champion, Tracy Moseley.

He goes on to say 'Whether you are new to off road riding, looking to improve your technical skills, or really want to nail those drop offs and rip up the trails like a pro then our friendly, experienced coaches will guide you through new techniques and encourage you to reach new levels of riding and confidence. Our skills clinics cover fundamental to advanced techniques, which give novice riders the key to riding their bike the way they've always wanted to and helps those with more experience gain a detailed understanding of the skills they are already using. Our coaches will help you identify your strengths and areas for improvement, taking your riding to a whole new level.

As well as winning World Cup Downhills, Tracy is a SMBLA qualified guide and is only too keen to share her wealth of experience with you. “I'm really looking forward to coming to ride in Whistler and also to having the opportunity to encourage women to have a go at mountain biking and hopefully progress their skills,” said Tracy.

Its not all about the riding though. How about learning how to set-up your bike for extra control? Or finding out what is it that you really need to carry with you for a day in the hills? There will be some informal lessons throughout the week, but don't worry its not like gong back to school. Pick up bike maintenance tips during one of our legendary lakeside lunch stops, or learn about sports nutrition over a post ride beer!

  • How did you get involved with the wmns week?

One of the guides working for Ticket2Ride this year used to work for Powerbar, one of my sponsors and he approached me about doing something with the girls week and it just happened that it coincided with me already being in Whistler for Crankworx

  • Why is it so good to go to Whistler to learn these skills?

Whistler is just purpose built for bikes and it makes riding so much fun, because all the facilities are there. You are surrounded by tonnes of like minded bike enthusiasts and a 30 min downhill and 100's of trails to choose from everytime you go up the chairlift!!

  • What's so good about riding with other women?

It's fun, non intimidating and I think it creates and atmosphere where girls will feel able to have a go at stuff and really progress without feeling like they are being looked at and laughed at by their husbands, boyfriends or friends. It's a great way to progress your skills and meet other girls to hangout with and make new friends to ride with in the future.

  • When did you pass your guiding/teaching qualifications?

I have done my British Cycling level 2 coaching course about 2 years ago and this winter I did the Trail Cycle Leader course with the Scottish Mountain Bike Leader course and the training for the Mountain Bike Leader. I think I would like to do some guiding/coaching in the future so I took the opportunity to get qualified and help me becoming better at delivering skill instruction. It's easy to do it, but a lot harder to explain how you do it ?!!
