dhb Ladies Compton Round Neck Base Layer - tested

The new dhb baselayers have been redesigned for 2008 and have a new super comfort fit and the amasing Nanobon fabric. The fabric construction works with the body to help release of minus ion, which in turn help neutralize lactic acid, stimulates the body's metabolism and blood circulation and keeps the body warm whilst swiftly wicking away moisture.

The fabric is then blended with Aegis Microbesheild which provides protection from harmful odors, staining and deterioration caused by by sweat bacteria and other micro-organisms. Thus the absolute need to wash the garment in non-biological washing detergent.

The dhb ranges comes from the online retailer Wiggle. Wiggle source all dhb products in bulk, direct from the manufacturer which means they cut costs, keeping the garments affordable for the consumer.

Now, we can't really test the theory on neutralizing lactic acid, stimulating metabolism and blood circulation however we can tell you that what ever the fabric is suppose to do, it does. The fabric of this base layer not only feels smooth, soft and is light, it really does keep you dry, in all situations. No requirements of a secondary wicking layer, a fleece is enough, or a jacket is sufficient.

The cut is not as “women's specific” as some base layers I have tested. It lack's the closeness under the bust, however it is close to the body where it is needed, and the lack in some of the fitting is made up in the stretchy fabric so overall it is a great fit. The all important arm length is perfect. Surprisingly the cut does not have extra coverage at the back, but the garment is long so this is not a problem.

The flat lock seams add extra comfort and the lines are great for the overall style. There is a reflective scotchguard dhb logo on the front, if you were to wear it as an outer garment, so it is just for looks we think. The elasticated cuffs are really comfortable and are not too tight.

Verdict

A simple, nice looking, moisture wicking, extremely affordable base layer.
