We've been lucky enough here in the SheCycles HQ to take a sneaky look at the new clothing range from New Zealand and UK based company Embers Merino.
Embers specialise in fusing style and function to create a totally natural range of activewear, their website is an 'Outdoor Boutique' experience.
First up is the Migrate Baselayer, made from Super Fine Merino wool which feels great next to the skin and works well under cycling layers for winter riding. We've also worn this down the pub and out for country walks as a beautifully fitting and stylish long sleeved top. This women's specific design features a pretty but subtle little motif and curves in all the right places to compliment a female figure. The Merino fabric keeps you warm and comfortable and has flatlock seams and underarm panels for freedom of movement whatever you choose to do in it. It's certainly become an essential part of our winter wardrobe.
The Merino hype
Merino is nature's intelligent fibre. It enables merino sheep to live comfortably through the snowy winters and scorching summers of New Zealand's Southern Alps. It will do the same for you. Unlike synthetics, Merino has superb temperature regulating qualities thanks to the responsive microclimate it creates against the skin. Thanks to the easy to care for properties of Merino the Migrate Baselayer has washed beautifully and after a few times in the machine has retained it's shape, quality and softness. It's doesn't pong either like some synthetic fabrics.
Anything from this range would make the perfect Christmas pressie and designs are available for both men and women - just leave this browser open for a subtle hint! What really sets these apart is the attention to detail and the superb quality of the material and design. The only downside is that you won't want to use them as base layers as they look so good as outer wear!
