Waterproofs
Can anyone reccomend one?

I haven't got a decent waterproof, this winter is probably going to be a bit soggy without one so can anyone reccomend a decent one? I wouldn't just be wearing it for biking, so would prefer it to have pockets.

These days we are spoilt for choice! Don't know whether you road ride or MTB. I have a Gore Paclite but whenever I fall off my MTB, it tears and have to send it away for repair at £25 a time!!

About 18 months ago I bought a Gore Windstopper Brooklyn jacket and although they do not claim that it is waterproof (due to seams not being taped), I am really impressed with it. I have used it in heavy rain/ sleet/hailstones and I have been completely dry and warm.

Some people do find it a bit warm though but I just use less layers. It does have pockets as well but the Paclite doesn't (more minimalist, as it packs up really small).

At the end of the day, I do believe you get what you pay for with waterproofs (I am a keen walker as well). If you are out regularly in bad weather, you need to be properly equipped.

Hope this helps!

I quite like my raceface ladies juice jacket - it has a big pocket on the back and has pit zips to aid ventilation. But it doesn't have a neck draw which I find useful in the rain. 70pounds on chainreaction.
I also have an old karrimor ladies waterproof but it doesn't have pockets and in pale blue isn't the most practical colour. I think the equivalent is the berghaus mermaid jacket.

To back up what old bird said, I have the gore Windstopper trousers and have found them to be waterproof too so far so would think the jacket is the same. I wore a Howies Cross jacket all last winter and that was waterproof, except for the bit by my bum but I attribute that to bad fit! (because I have to wear a men's size so it's long on me, any wet on the inner fleece gets in and since it's too long it sort of rolls up a bit there on me.) I even wore it out in all-day rain (training with Olly, was at least 5 hours) and it was still dry inside.
