So I have some short sleeve jerseys that I like and was wondering whether arm warmers actually work over the autumn/winter keeping you warm enough to continue wearing these or whether I need to be looking at some long sleeve jerseys.

Armwarmers are good for spring and autumn days probably not ideal for full winter as they are very close fitting and depending on the jersey don't always make a good seal at the sleeve.

Long sleeved jackets with wind proofing are best for winter.

Like Daphne says - they are good in autumn to take the chill off but I don't use them in winter - I prefer long sleeve jerseys. I always find they roll down at the top as well.

I think arm warmers are a brilliant invention! I have a thin pair which I use in summer to avoid bramble cuts. I "invested" in a pair of Gore Windstopper ones as well, very expensive but they keep me so warm. Sometimes you just don't want to feel too "layered up" so arm warmers come into their own. Obviously cos they are so small it's easy to stuff them away.
