so I've now got my road bike and am currently riding it with shimano spds as these are what I have on my hybrid and having spent a fortune on the bike didn't want to buy more shoes and pedals! I have seen there are "touring" SPDs (shimano A520) and was wondering if anyone had used these pedals and whether they offered any advantage over the usual MTB double sided standard shimano spds.

The main benefit with these is you have a slightly wider platform, so the theory being a more comfortable footbed for longer rides.
The downside is that they are one sided, which can be a little bit of a pain to get used to.
But other than that they should be a good bet.

I have just bought a new Trek 5.2 pilot and wanted some new lightweight spd pedals. I ordered the 2007 xtr's but was really disappointed to find the spring tension on these was too fierce so I have temporarily put on my old pedals. Has anyone tried the M959 and if so, was this easy to exit? N.b. I have of course adjusted the tension on the xtr's but even at the lowest setting they are too hard to exit.
