I was just thinking about who wears what. Is it an age thing , a road/mtb thing or figure conscious thing?
Why do you wear what you wear?

I wear lycra for really long rides and tend to wear baggies for shorter summer rides or man mades.
I wear 3/4 lycra early Spring/ late Autumn

I have child-bearing hips -whether they get used is a different matter - baggies make look like the back end of a bus!!!! Lycra everytime.

Baggies all the time cos I'm too old and fat for lycra!! Most of the time it's the 3/4 baggies - in winter with longs underneath but in summer they avoid the bloody knee look from bramble cuts!
The fashion police just don't bother arresting me anymore!

Lycra off-road if it's wet, baggies if dry. Lycra on the road bike. Old, knackered baggies over old, see-through lycra for commuting. Same as the boys, really.

 |
Always Lycra but I only ride on the road.
|
 |
I always wear lycra, as I find it more comfy, particularly on long rides.

I'm not yet confident enoug to wear lycra! :) So I'm still in baggy trousers which I love. Tho I'm slowly thinking about tights. I do wear lycra shorts underneath. For me I do think it's an age thing... I'm way beyond my tights and leggings years. (My legs and bum are actualy bits I'm not worried about anyone seeing!)

I'm pretty much the same as Jenn. Baggies usually as a preference off road unless it's really cold (two layers is enough with lycra shorts and tights) or very wet.
I don't really do much road work and my commute consists of walking down the stairs (I live at work). I think I'd get some funny looks if I rocked into work in my cycling gear.

Hi I am new to this forum stuff - my husband is into hi fi and is on them all of the time! Having recently hit the "big 40" my knees seem to have gone a bit baggy (let alone the shorts) so it's sugar knickers for me - far more flattering than shorts and if the sun does happen to be out, at least you don't get marks half way down your thighs! What happens next?!!

.JPG) Baggies over lycra is definitely the way to go if, like me, you have a tendency to fall off and hit the dirt. (Well you aren't pushing your limits if you never fall off). The baggies avoid the grazing a lot more than lycra. (and they hide the bulges when you ate too much post-ride cake!)

Hey everyone, Always lycra because it's padded and stops by bum getting sore- especially on longer rides and races. Also the mud comes out really easily!! I only ride off-road (well- mainly) and hardly see any-one else so I don't care about the whole figure thing. The only disadvantage is it looks like I know what I'm doing when I don't!!

It has to be Lycra all the time on the road.
I do own a couple of pairs of baggies, but these only come out a couple of times a year usually when i'm playing in the Peaks.
|
 |
Definitely lycra but avaoiding a vpl. Much more comfortable.
|
 |
Lycra mostly although I do now have a pair of harlot 3/4 which are pretty tight and majorly comfortable.

I’m definitely a lycra girl - off road + commuting. I just find it more comfortable and it “reflects my riding style” ;-) I feel that with baggies I should top up with some body armour and full face helmet and hurtle down hills at a speed of light! Plus of course Assos doesn’t make baggies … ( Ha!)

 |
assos baggies... now there is a thought!
Thanks for all your replies ladies, I thought i was in the minority choosing lycra over baggies for mtb-but it seems not!
