Fancy trying something a bit different?

Don't know if any of you have tried this event before but it looks potentially a lot of fun.

Organised by Green Events, it's called the "Real Ale Wobble" (try this link http://www.green-events.co.uk/events.php#id19  hope that works)  and it's on Saturday 15th November.

It involves riding your bike and stopping at various check points to drink beer (well you wouldn't want to get dehydrated would you)  over courses varying in distance from about 15 miles.

Now I don't know about you, but I can fall off my bike without drinking any beer so this could prove to be very interesting.  Anyone else up for this as I think a bigger group would make it all the more fun.  Camping is available and I think there is some music on as well, although the details are a bit sketchy.

I've already been thinking of a few things to do to help around the course:

Wear full on downhill body armour for when you fall off (this is inevitable, I feel)

Fit stabilisers to bike to lessen number of times you fall off

Fill Camelbak with strong, black coffee in an attempt to sober up between beer stations

Take lots of cake to soak up the beer

Further tips, suggestions and volunteers welcome.

I did it a few years ago, it was OK, I suppose. I did the longest route and mud completely fooked up my bike. If you are into XC mud baths then it probably would be your thing. I found that I just did not want to drink beer and then try and ride my bike, it was cold and damp. It was a good atmosphere and a laugh in some respects but I doubt I'd do it again. I didn't find the route very inspiring.

I don't think I could drink that much beer, its a pint at each pub stop isn't it?

You get beer tokens. It isn't pubs it's tressle tables with barrels in the middle of nowhere, bizzare.

I thought the MTB Bog snorkling, as a spectator, was a better option it's the same chap that runs it.
