Hiya

This was mentioned in Suzibear's triathlon thread so am just picking up from that, I'm quite keen to have a go a this (website www.vlaevents.co.uk) but would be keen for company, both for training and on the day!  Would anyone fancy giving it a go?

Hmm maybe, need to get a bit fitter though  and try out the singletrack bits at CYB (haven't been there yet). I am a slow runner and biker so would be somewhere near the bottom of the field (hopefully not last...)

Don't worry I'm not particularly speedy either so it would purely be for the experience.  I do run a lot at the gym but I tend to stick to a level surface so I am making myself incline the treadmill a bit now just in case ha ha!  SuziB is condsiring it and I did say we could have a CYB weekend to ride the trails, I have been recently but it's a good place to go and there's enough to fill a weekend, plus the Marin trail isn't far away in Betws-y-Coed anyway.  There are some walking/jogging tracks too at the new centre, not very long but better than nothing

Just been out for a 3.5 mi run this lunch - lungs were ok but the legs were hurting. I'm well out of practise! I won't tell you how long it took because its too embarassing but it was over 30minutes

Yeah we should do CYB weekend. Penmachno there as well - that's ace, partic the last few bits of singletrack . Only done the first bit of the Marin (one evening) and that was mostly fireroad so put me off a bit, but it looks like there's alot more singletrack on the second half.

Yes the Mairn trail gets better the further in you go.  I quite like the climbs on there as they are fairly steady and you can get into a rythym and switch off a bit.  Wait till the kids are back at school I reckon before going over, all the accom will be chock a block until then!

I'm thinking of doing this and I think carolyn is definetly doing it, the lucky thing is in Whistler at the moment.  I'm not a runner at all 3.5miles would take me about 40minutes but I did a Duathlon earlier this year and enjoyed it.
