Well tonight I'm off to ride my first time trial with Sharon from these parts. I am very nervous as I'm not sure what to expect. Anyone else on here ride time trials?

I am pretty sure when I said I was doing a time trial last year trio, you said "why?" Hahaha! I was really nervous too, but you just ride as fast as you can for 10 miles or whatever. And try not to go the wrong way (that's the bit I get wrong) P.S. The above may not actually be true, if you are actually good at time trials. I am sure there are lots of helpful tips people who do them lots can give you! Also I was really nervous about being held upright and "pushed off" (worried I would just tip over!) but it is ok really!

They hold me up and push me off???? I might have said why Claire but it seems that this year I've gone a bit crazy when it comes to biking, any sort of biking! It's ten miles, so there is only so lost I can get surely! Sharon is going to show me the course beforehand!

Yeah no one is as dozy as me. I nearly took the wrong exit one time on a time trial that just went out down a road and round a roundabout and back again. (The roundabout has lots of exits, and I just wasn't thinking, and in my defence apparently others have done it!!) They do hold you up and push you off, at least at the ones I have done. The first time I did one I refused though as I didn't like the idea, and that was fine, but I think the push off gets you going quicker!

Go for it Trio! I've done my first ones in the last month as well (have done two now, both 10s). I'd say don't set off TOO fast in case you blow up...on the other hand remember that 10 miles is not that far (let's face it, compared with some of the distances you do!) and so you can afford to give it some welly! I've found the ones I've done LESS painful than the Legbreaker Good luck and let us know how it goes.

She finished it in 28:27 I think - correct me if I'm wrong trio....
So how fast did you manage them Bry? yes it was a lot less painful than the legbreaker! Ali m you are correct with the time!
Well done, nice one! Bet you can't wait to have another go now! I did 27.59 on the first one and 27.31 on the second one. I was pleased to improve but the wind was a little better the second time - it was horrendous for the first one. Our course is laps of an airfield, so it's really exposed, and up one side I was doing about 17mph Looking forward to trying again now! Are you looking forward to next Sunday?(!)
Yes and No! For some silly reason I have entered a 12hour mtb race the day before, so I'm going to be shattered. Then I'll be trying to ride the legbreaker! They would put everything on the same weekend! I might head out to the course on wednesday again and try and beat my time if the weather is nice!
Oh no, poor you - that does sound like a lot for one weekend. You can just take your time on the Legbreaker though and get round in whatever time is comfortable (well, as comfortable as those hills can possibly be!). This time I've told my mates (who have all just done the Marmotte, and got gold standards!) that I need to ride at my own speed on Sunday. I think with hills like those you just need to do what's right for you without pressure. I think they might just go off and do the Super Challenge, which is fine by me! The Legbreaker is one of about two days a year when I wish the Ruby had a triple!

Went again last night and improved to 27:55. It was quite hard, with a horrid head wind for a lot of it, but only a tail wind for one short section. Really worked hard though, so don't think I could have gone faster - apart from when a car caused me to slow down on a roundabout. Yes a triple would be nice so I could sit down on some of the hills!

Mmmm.. could be tempted can't be doing with them pointy hats though Yep very impressive Sharon and Trio.
