I'm interested if anyone did as I fancy trying some xc racing, but don't know what standard you have to be at.
I have raced a fair bit of XC and I'm not that quick and also don't like technical stuff. I'd definitely give it a go if i was you. Anyone can enter and you get all sorts of abilities. I have done an NPS before, but suffered a mechanical and couldn't finish. On the non NPS races there is normally a fun category so people can give it a go. If you don't want to do fun, then enter open, which again is open to everyone. This is reasonably competitive with some good riders. So, ultimately, if you fancy it, just turn up and give it a go.

I would try the enduros the day after the NPSes trio as they are meant to be less scary. Also probably more your thing as you are endurance queen. THough you would probably be fine in the NPSes as well. (I have never done either, just going on what I have heard)
I'm not an endurance queen at all! But yes had thought that might be easier. Just hard to judge how good/fast you need to be. I'm definetly not fast!
Give it a go, you'll never know until you do:0) Enter the open ( you don't need a license) and you'll go off with a few other categories so you can gauge how your fitness compares. You'll probably only have to do 2 laps and to be honest it's a better introduction than the enduro. Especially as you'll only be on the course with the youth me, so not half as scary as having the rest of the enduro field blasting past you! Next one is in Eastridge, Shropshire at the end of August. It'll be fun, plus you can make a weekend of it and do the enduro as well!

Can't do that one softfocus, transwales. But thinking about penmachno in September, it'll keep me motivated to ride after transwales.
I have not done any for about six years I think. I am contemplating having another go but wonder if I am still up to it. Also unsure about x country versus enduro or even both to see if I still want to do it. I was already doing a sportive or I would have had a go at the Grizedale one. I wondered about the Grizedale route because I can imagine it would be a bit of a procession on the North Face Trail. Just where would people over take. As somebody who would be in the way of overtakers I would not have been happy with the pressure. I find the Grizedale trail possible but tricky though everyone seems to say it is easy.
I don't like the North face Trail, it just doesn't seem to flow to me, except the last bit which is fab! Do you fancy the one at penmachno mother?
I'm thinking about it. Is that the September one that was originally going to be Dumfries which would have been better for me? I was thinking that if I had a go this year I could maybe target MTB events next year. I have been enjoying sportives lately - no fear of falling on my head factor.
Yes its september, don't know if it has moved. I've done a few sportives this year as well, although some of the descents in the etape du dales had me just as scared as being off-road.
I know what you mean. Not done the Etape do Dales but have done Fred Whitton. Som edescents there require focus!
That's on my list of rides I want to do. Will try and get in to it next year.
If you are able to deliver your entry by hand that is your best bet.
Yes I've heard that, but probably won't be able to. Something to try next year though, are you based in the lakes?
Lucky you, a fab place to live for biking. I'm in Bolton so not too too far away. You doing any other sportives this year? I'm riding the pendle pedal and the legbreaker.
Doing the cumberland challenge
Not heard of that one, do you have a lin I might consider it next season
