I only started mountain biking in March this year after buying a cheapo Apollo bike from Halfords. But already I want a new bike.............I've been looking at a Kona Lisa DS (2007) and wondered if anyone has one and could advise about pros and cons. Cheers. Caroline

I don't own one, but general rules about bikes. I nice looking bike is indeed a very good bike (that is a FACT) but the opposite doesn't work. So if you find the bike nice it is likely to ride nicely. But make sure the bike fits you. It is sometimes worth driving 45-60 minutes to get to a LBS that offer a very good service. Specially if it's your first bike. Try to go with on of the gorgeous girls that post on here to chose your first bike. It always help. General rules about Canadian bikes They are ACE, and geometry is about spot on and they ride beautifully General rules about kona: They are most of the time one step forward, have nice names and funky colours.

Whoow , you're obviously enjoying the biking then . My friend bought an old demo Kona Lisa and likes it, and she's 5ft nothing... Haven't heard anything bad about them. Have you tried the Kona's on hire at 'degla? See you thurs!

 |
Cheers both. Not tired one of the Kona's at Llandegla but they are loads lighter than my bike for starters! If you don't mind me asking Foxy Boy..........what's a lad doing on this website?! Are you riding on Thurs Lou? I'm gunna take the westie instead! See you there!

lol well it all started by posting something outrageous on the singles thread via STW. I needed advice on a girly short as I am very very skinny and the last short I bought was too big (even size S) Then I have to say I quite enjoy posting here... Far away from the banter on STW... And I am always happy to help

Planning on riding tho I've had a flu thing over the weekend so I'm gonna take it easy (OH has told me not to go running or riding this week, but do I take any notice? )

I got a 2006 Kona Lisa off Ebay over Easter. Have only managed to ride her twice so far as was in desperate need of a service (went round the last 25 mins or so at Llandegla with no hillclimb gears nor rear brake!) but am picking her up tomorrow from the shop all fixed and we will be out at the weekend

Caroline - the Four Lisa (which is the '08 version of the DS) is reviewed in this month's Singletrack mag. Apart from its weight and the fact that the forks were a little too hard for a smaller rider, it fared very well and was summed up as a 'delight to ride'.

Hi Caroline I'vr got a Kona 2007 DS - love it. Ride it all the time. One thing I've been told about Konas is that the frame is quality whereas not all the bits are, so I've been replacing bits on mine as they go wrong. Got a lovely set of pink Hope Minis on it now, always replace tyres anyway and am looking to replace the gears next as I seem to have... well messed them up a bit Cheers Caroline

Caroline - cheers for that. Think I might go for one if I can hold of one... Mamadirt - Thanks I'll check it out... MissGroover - How's the done up Kona? Foxy Boy - You always seem to be on here!!
