Just been out on a preview ride with the guys who are organising the race. Details on http://www.hitthenorth.net/. The course was full of lovely swoopy single track. Some shortish climbs with a long section on gravel paths ( should prove interesting on the day). A couple of water splashes and an O.M.G bombhole, they are however making a chicken run around this, as a girl had an accident on a preview ride a few weeks ago. If the trails are as dry on the day of the race as they were on this preview ride, then the course will be smooth and fast.

I'm so tempted by this, but I have a road event the next day....
I've 'stupidly' signed up for the Duathlon even though Trio persuaded me to do the short legbreaker the day after
Ditto, I've entered the Legbreaker, and I don't think anything the day before will be a good idea. I believe the Legbreaker is so named for good reason! Hopefully HTN will go well and run again next year 'cos I'd def be up for it then.
So is the duathlon on the Sunday?
No it's on the Saturday. Then we are doing the Legbreaker on the Sunday but I'm only doing the short route Sunday.
Not a lot of entries for the duathlon yet Carolyn. I'm so tempted to this event solo, but it seems silly with the legbreaker the next day, but then it also is good practice for riding hard days back to back.
Yep I might win my catergory again
Well after your fantastic victory yesterday I would expect it!
I think I'm doing this, team of four option though - really enjoyed the clic24 so want to do more. If you solo trio you can set up camp with us, at least you'll have company (and pit crew - thanks boys) on your breaks, assuming that you'll stop at some point!
Just bin surfin t'interweb and there is provisionally another preview day on Saturday 7th June. I'm guessing it's the same route for the Duathlon as the main race. If I remember I will probably go.
Yes same route according to the interweb, I might be up for that if I remember and don't have anything else on that day.
The guys who run this were saying last night, that there is a shortage of women riders in the event. The course is full of single track, it's not boring at all. Also there will be a marquee half way round with drinks and snacks, if the going gets tough. The laps are 8.4 miles long. So come on girls lets not let 'shecycles' down.
Yes come on I don't want to be on my own, ah but I might win again ha ha
Were you at the preview ride last night Mrs NBT? i was going to go, hoping to make next weeks, going to see if it is singlespeedable.
Hey trio and others, Laura (who some of you may know) and I have signed up for Hit the North as a female pair. So see you there perhaps!
Yep, myself and 19 men, eek. There were 5 guys on singlespeeds (including NBT.). 2 guys fell doing the bomb hole and one wasn't wearing a helmet. You'll be fine Trio. The steep bits are very short.
You going to be there next week mrs mbt? I got scared of going in case I was the only female. The men on singlespeeds are probably faster than me!
When is it next week is it in the evening again?
There is one on Sat. I'm not sure about another evening ride. They usually keep everyone informed on their wesite (above). I was at the back trio, so didn't see how fast the s.s riders were. But I was very slow compared to the guys just in front.
