I've (stupidly) entered this event and have just been scaring myself looking at stuff about it on the web. I also checked the last couple of years results and noticed how few women are doing it! Anyone on here done or doing it?
I have no idea what I'm doing from one minute to the next! Think I might know some who are doing it. One is indeed a girl, but as far as I know she doesn't post on here. When is it?

Hi MrsD 2 weeks today. Eeek!
Yes I'm doing it, think it is going to hurt big time!
So Trio - do you feel ready? I'm getting really nervous. I can't believe I signed myself up for this. I'm loads fitter than I was, which was the aim of entering an event. I've acheived my aim, do I really have to actually do the thing? ! Trouble is I've got loads of sponsorship now, so I guess I do really have to get myself round it. What time are you aiming to set off?
Aiming to set off as early as possible, I think it'll take me a long time to get round. I'm also a lot fitter but think I'll struggle near the end. This will be my second ride over 100miles - the other being the Cheshire Cat which was a lot flatter! Now I'm just worrying about it, do you think the weather is going to be nice to us?
The forecast isn't looking too bad. Certainly not too warm like last Sunday. I'm mainly worried about the wind. There's no way its going to be wind free up all those hills, but I've had some nightmare training rides into strong winds. The furthest I've managed is about 90 miles in training, and that was a much flatter route. I'm hoping that all those shorter rides I did in the depths of winter will count for extra miles on a nice Spring day! I think they'll be a lot of us trying to set off early, I don't want to be the last one left out on the course....
My longest ride is 104 flat miles, did 94 hilly miles on tuesday though. i certainly don't want to be the last one on the course. Pretty sure it'll take me at least 11 hours though.

You seem to have done much better preparation than me. I've borrowed my friend's lighter wheels. I'm sure that'll make all the difference! I've really no clue about how long its going to take me. It my first road event and I'm not used to doing all those steep hills. I've been chatting with my friends who are doing it and we're trying to get there right for the start so maybe I'll see you there. I'll be the other girl! (in a Crosstrax top)

Trio u will be fine, just pace yourself
I'll be in a CycleChat top and I ride a spesh ruby.
Good Luck Matey ! Save yourself for the Duathlon next week though...
Hey Jenny, I been out with Dave today - the good ole BA run. From what he tells me, you'll be fine. Presume you're at home now, drinking water and eating pasta. Mind you, it's no mean feat... I'll be having a hangover bimble around Bakewell...it will take longer to drive there than it will to do the ride! Ha. Variety though is the spice of life..and I aint ridden there..

Well done Trio ( and me !) for finishing! I was looking out for you at the start, although I got there later than planned, but was not compus mentus enough to spot you afterwards so I well done for still being on the ball. It was a really hard ride, and it did hurt. I was worst about half way. If someone had offered me a lift home at that point I'd have taken it and dropped out! But I think I'd been going too fast. I ate loads, slowed down a bit and felt loads better by the next check in point. Not that it got any easier but i was believing I could actually finish. I'm so glad the weather was kind to us to. I hope it is as nice to you for your Transwales too Trio.

MrsD - hope you enjoyed your bimble. The Ba run - thats what I started with...... and then it progressed..... See you at the Etape next year?? !
It was nice to meet you jm. I don't think I was really with it, I probably walked past you a few times but something made me remember. It was a very hard ride, but a great challenge. I started really struggling from 70miles onwards! You looked very professional with your motorbike outrider!!!
motorbike outrider????! I'll see you hobbling around tonight I guess....well done to you both anyway! I managed a whole, ooh, 15 miles yesterday! ha! and with tea and cake part way round; tell you what was tricky though - choosing which cake to have, they were all delicious!

I came in 8th female I think, out of about 30 starters. I'm definitely hobbling at the moment MrsD, I hope the pilates might loosen me off a bit! Ed and Jo came out on the motorbike looking for us all. He rode next to me for a while, as I went past Trio right near the end. It was quite cool, I felt like a TdeF rider. Well not really but...............
