Hiya Am a newbie to this site and posted something about the rough ride a little while back and unfortunately I had no replies!! Just wanted to see if anyone was interested in this event or indeed meeting up at the event? I'm a relative new to mountain biking but get out a few times a week around Chepstow/Cwm Carn/Talybont etc and do Climax in Snowdonia every month or so, so if you fancy some company, live locally or just want an extra riding pal, please let me know. It's pretty boring checking the forum and not having any replies and indeed riding by myself when the OH can't or is off training for the Mega...(or indeed just having a girl to ask advice on etc). Thanks Shari

Thanks for that Shari, looks pretty good and I've pencilled it in the diary. I've been meaning to go and explore this area so this looks the perfect excuse. Will come back to you a little later on..

Hi, just to let you know girls I won't be doing that this week-end - Kinda discovered DH since then and am in love So XC stuff taking a back seat. Soz, have a great time!

Hello, am new to this forum stuff this but will be there on Sunday, hoping not to shame myself too much this time after coming in last on the 50k at the Merida Marathon in April, hell it was hard work as well as wet and cold but really enjoyed it so its definately worth it.

Hi all Have booked in so i'll def be going. It's great to have a local ride. Not sure what it's all about, never been before. I'm on for the 75 is anyone else? Emma B don't even worry about coming 'last' in the Merida - I came 2nd out of 2 in an XC a couple of months ago ha ha that's the funniest thing! My mate Dave came 6th out of 6 in one of his - so fear not - we're not the only ones!!!!! I'll be riding a pink and black specialized stumpjumper if anyone from here spots me do feel free to say hi (or anything else u can think of - preferably nice-ish) I will be the one removing my bloke's wheels and chucking them in the hedge so I don't have to ride with him........he kicks my arse! EMMA

I am riding with my bloke and he usually goes like the clappers but stops and waits for me to catch up bless him! Ill be on a red specialized Epic - going for the 50k, working my way up to further for the merdia 2009 I think so taking it easy this year! Finding it slightly amusing that out of 800 entrants there is only about 50 women! Where are all the women riders!
There are never many women riders - my only cycling partner has gone to france and i never find any girls to ride with!! See u there!

Hey All I'll be on a silver trek 4700 or brown sombrio shorts, a lary orange jacket, blue e2 helmet and red hair (the fashion police are usually all over me!!). Will be heading up shortly to register and get the camping spot sorted - will be in a black 1 series bmw witha 2 man tent covered in pictures of fish (its my OH's!!) if anyone wants to swing by to say gday. Am only doing the lower mileage also - still a bit scared after the crash the other week. Really look forward to seeing some of you girls up there!! Emma - you made me laugh out loud - mine does exactly the same!!! If anyone is up for Cwm Carn next week give me a shout. Shari xx

Hi Shari, Re: next week, is that Cwm Carn XC loop or DH course? Saturday/Sunday? Have a good one this week-end..
Emma- I did it 2 years ago and only saw 6 women, one of whom I was riding with.
Will just have to make sure we do womankind proud then..... although I am not hopeful, took too much advantage of the sunshine this afternoon and now have red stripes on the tops of my legs, hoping they wont rub too much!!!

Caroline - it would be the XC route I would do but I'm a little slow so as long as you don't mind that!!! Could do it some time this week after hours if you like? Well done to everyone who completed the RR yesterday. It was bloody hot!!! I was personally a bit disappointed with the event: ie lack of facilities for families camping the night before etc but thought the marshalling was fab and everyone was really friendly along the way which was brilliant!! It was far more hilly for me than expected, naiively I thought once you did all the climbing at the start it would be more round the top with sloping hills not massive climbs - but proud I did it (the short route that is!!). How did everyone else get on? Shari

Hello all - I finished - was a lot harder than I thought it would be, like you Caroline I didn't appreciate how many hills there would be - there didn't seem to be any respite really between the climbs but got there in the end and feeling pretty good today so can't complain! Finished the short route in 5hrs 13 minutes so will be back next year to improve on it I think! What day are you heading to CwmCarn on the weekend Shari? I might be there anyway on Saturday with a pack of smelly boys who go to fast for me so if you see someone panting their way up a first climb say hello. Emma C - I said hello to someone I thought might be you but it was just someone else with a black and pink specialized - they are really nice! Might think about getting one. oohhh and I won some quick release skewers too! Not too sure what to do with them but boyf. said he will put them on my bike for me! And the curry was nice too although I agree with Shari - didn't look to be great facilities but we didn't camp cos we are local.... up for it next year though!
