Hi, is anyone interested in joining a group for trail-led rides in Avon & North Somerset?
My local bike club has agreed to guide rides (no charge) as long as I can get groups together to make it worthwhile - they've already got routes planned for Rowberrow and The Quontoks - thought it'd be great to take out a girl group.
Anyone interested???

Hi Jen, any dates in mind at all?

No dates set as yet - but we can arrange one and hope other riders are interested too. I'll call Adam (the guide) tomorrow and ask when he's free and let you know some possible dates.
Thanks for your reply

Hi Jen, sounds good i'd be up for that - if you can let me know some dates and i'll see if i'm around. Thanks

Hi Jen

I am Birmingham based but could possibly join you - my knowledge of anywhere outside the Midlands is poor  so I would need explict instructions to start points!

Hi girls,
We've got two dates arranged, I hope you can join us - Sunday 13th and Sunday 27th of April.
You are welcome to get a lift with either Adam or I from Weston-super-Mare, or meet us at the Quantocks.
Adam is organising a route card so I can give you a starting location and a rough route description, although I know that the first section of the ride is on bridal track - it'll be a bit bumpy but no hill climbs or descents. The second section of the ride (optional) is a more technical downhill section through the woods and (I believe) a steady climb up on more open tracks back to the car park.
I'll post that up the location and ride details next week.
Please let me know if you can make it!

Hi Jen, thanks for organising that. Unfortunately i can't make those dates as i'm in wales biking both those weekends. Will def be up for other rides though so would be grateful if you could keep me posted! I'm in Barnstaple so would meet you there. Have fun!

Hi Jen, can't make next Sunday but poss 27th. I'm a little concerned about the 'bumpy' and 'no climbs/descents' bits, we are talking about XC riding right? As far as I know bumpy and descent are the name of the game!! Like the sound of DH section. Could you send a map of the route (e.g Tracklogs), or, failing that, enough details of the route so I can get a sense of what's on offer (including distance)?

It's quite a way to drive from where I am (Derby) and I just want to make sure it'll be worth it.

Thanks

Hi Caroline,
Thanks for your reply. I wasn't really sure about peoples abilities, but sounds like most people prefer the harder and technical riding which is great news. Adam and I will do a test run next Sunday and find the best trails - I can give you all the details you need with ref. to the route then.
The Quantocks covers a huge area with loads of different terrain from dense woodland to river crossings to bracken hills to old forts. Have a look on the ordnance survey website, look-up 'Nether Stowey' and scroll the map South West (www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk). This should give you a better idea of the area, gradients etc.
Hope this helps,
Jen

Hi all,

Riding in the Quantocks this Sunday (13th April) is ON. So far we have four riders confirmed and a couple of possible extras.
The planned ride is about 1 1/2 hours, but can be easily extended, or additional rides added afterwards. It is a more technical route than the one I mentioned previously.

If you want to join us, we are meeting in Weston-super-Mare @ 10am (to sort lift shares) and will be at the ride start at 11am. The route starts at Crowcombe Park Gate. See links below, or just tpye this into Googlemaps (should be 'A' - in the hills!)

If you want to join us, please get in touch (jen@jac-creative.co.uk) so I can give you full details.

Hi Jen, will give next sunday a miss. Am still interested in discovering this area, but as it's quite a trip, I'm thinking more along the lines of a week-end away during the summer, camping and riding both days kinda thing. Will keep an eye on here for further dates if any..

Have a good one
